May 2009 -- Spanish Bank Beach West, Vancouver, BC Canada
As we head towards the lowest tide of the year, in mid-June, the adult bald eagles work hard to feed this year's eaglets. Soon the eaglets will fledge from the nest but not go far, giving the parents a little bit of relief from having to constantly guard the nest.
The bald eagle circles overhead a few times before diving down to a tidal pool, scooping up a fish, then circles a couple of more times before heading back to shore to feed its eaglets.
Another bald eagle comes by, also circling above, looking for a similar meal. But this time, it was not to be!
