Another year has passed, another spring is upon us and thoughts turn to all things eagle. The nests at Jericho Park and at Vanier Park are nesting. We hope all goes well and some healthy juvenile bald eagles emerge!
In the meantime the busy parents must eat to keep up their energy. There is a mini-low tide at this time of year. At the half-way point we set up the camera to capture a couple of bald eagles circling overhead. Shortly they settle on the sand not far from us.
As they seem pre-occupied, first one then the other, with eating we take the opportunity to sneak up close. It turns out there is a HUGE fish that must have died then got covered over with a bit of sand from the tide.
The eagle first struggles to pull the monster out from under the sand cover, then folds it in half and sits on top eating heartily!
